The VA sends out direct deposit disability payments on the first of every month. When your VA payment falls on a weekend or a federal holiday, it will be deposited on the last business day of the previous week. In this post, we share the VA disability pay schedule for 2025 to help veterans avoid confusion and know when to expect their disability checks. |

Veterans get faster access to residential treatment |
The VA is working to get veterans faster and simpler access to its mental health residential rehabilitation programs (RRTPs) through a new, more centralized screening process. RRTPs provide around-the-clock support for substance use disorders, PTSD, depression, and other mental health conditions. More than 27,000 veterans were treated at RRTPs in fiscal year 2024, and the VA has the bed capacity to serve even more. |

VA partners with Uber to drive veterans to medical appointments, but travel in rural areas remains a problem |
Transportation problems account for almost 2 million missed VA medical appointments annually, costing the VA billions of dollars each year. In response, the VA began rolling out the VA-Uber Health Connect program nationwide in 2024, filling transportation gaps for some veterans. However, the collaboration has hit a dead end for many veterans living in rural and hard-to-reach communities where rideshare services are scarce or nonexistent. |

What is a VA intent to file? |
If you have a disability as a result of your military service, you deserve VA compensation in the full amount owed to you. The VA disability process is complex and not fully understanding it can result in the unfortunate loss of some compensation. The VA intent to file form can help you get up to a year of additional back pay as you gather information and file your VA disability claim. |
