Bill seeks to change remarriage rules for veterans' surviving spouses

Eligible spouses of deceased service members and veterans would be able to continue getting survivor benefits if they remarry at any age under a bill moving forward in the Senate. Currently, widows and widowers who remarry before age 55 become ineligible for benefits such the VA's Dependency and Indemnity Compensation (DIC) and the Defense Department's Survivor Benefit Plan (SBP).
