The VA is racing to sign up as many people as possible as the first anniversary of the PACT Act approaches on Aug. 9. Although there's no
deadline to apply for PACT Act benefits, anyone who files a claim or signals the intent to do so by today could collect payments retroactive to last year if the claim is approved. The law includes the addition of certain cancers and ailments as presumptively connected to burn pit exposure. For veterans who served during the Vietnam War, hypertension and other conditions were added to the list of problems presumed to be caused by exposure to Agent Orange.
