What affects the size of a VA back pay check?

American currency rolled up laying next to each other.

It’s refreshing when the government owes you money and not vice versa. But ensuring you receive all the back pay you’re owed for service-connected disabilities can be challenging. VA has processed more than one million VA benefit claims, the fastest rate in VA history

The Department of Veterans Affairs seal on a podium.

The VA announced that it has processed its one millionth VA benefits claim in fiscal year 2024. The department reached this milestone on March 4 — the earliest in VA history and nearly six weeks faster than the previous record. As a result of this record pace, backlogged veteran claims pending over 125 days have decreased by more than 42,000 over the past three months.

How female service members paved the way for the modern Women's Rights Movement

A monument for female veterans that features six
life-size bronze statues representing Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, and Army National Guard female recruits in detailed uniforms from World War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam, the Cold War, and current eras. The statues were created from detailed maquettes sculpted by artist Matt Glenn.

Quite the opposite: Long before the women’s liberation movement existed, the women of World War II changed the way Americans thought about the role of females in the workplace. Quietly, diligently, and persistently, the military women of WWII brought the women’s movement into the modern era.
