The veteran suicide rate decreased two years in a row, marking the fewest veteran suicides in a year since 2006. The National Veteran Suicide Prevention Annual Report revealed there were 6,146 veteran suicide deaths in 2020, 343 fewer than in 2019. The average number of veteran suicides in a year also had a small decrease, from 17.2 in 2019 to 16.8 in 2020.
Troops could get payouts for medical malpractice aboard ships
Troops injured in medical malpractice cases on board military ships would be able to seek compensation from the Defense Department under a proposal unveiled last week.
