VA will prioritize claims under PACT Act for veterans suffering from cancer

The VA will prioritize claims from veterans suffering from cancers that stem from exposure to burn pits and other toxins. The goal is to handle their cases immediately to get them access to care and benefits as quickly as possible. VA Secretary Denis Mc Donough said, "We will expedite veterans' claims if they have been diagnosed with melanoma, brain cancer, neck cancer, pancreatic cancer, kidney cancer, glioblastoma, head cancer of any type, respiratory cancer of any type, reproductive cancer of any type, gastrointestinal cancer of any type, lymphoma of any type, and lymphomatic cancer of any type."

Beware of scammers charging you to file for benefits

Consumer advocates are reminding veterans that they don't have to pay someone to file disability claims. The VA can help veterans find a VA-recognized organization or a VA-accredited individual to help them file a claim. In some cases, predatory companies charge 500% to 600% of the monthly benefit the veteran receives. The VA also advises veterans to ask upfront whether they will have to pay any money for the claim assistance.

Toxic screening will expand to all VA facilities and vets enrolled in VA healthcare

The VA will expand toxic screening to all veterans enrolled in its health care system under a new law that expands eligibility for care and benefits for those exposed to burn pits and other toxins. When veterans visit their primary care provider, they will be asked questions about potential exposure to burn pits or other hazards commonly associated with military environmental exposure.

It's worth noting that so-called VA "success rates" do not indicate your appeal's outcome. It is difficult - if not impossible - to predict the success of an appeal, because of the number of variables in each case.

What Are VA Effective Dates and Why Are They Important?
"
They were very helpful with my service-connected disability claims. They guided me through the process and even after I received 100% for my service-connected disabilities they still answer questions without any payment. I recommend them to all veterans.
